Questions about trust/parenting..?

If the child wanted to go for a bikeride the next day/week/month, then the actions/concequence thing could come into play. But you cannot punish a 16 year old for something they did 8 years ago. Besides, it would depend alot on what those 8 years held. If the child generally followed rules and showed that they could make good decisions then there would be little reason to doubt them. If they were constantly breaking rules and didn't seem to care about responsiblity then thats another story. A good parent is someone who provides the best they can for their children and puts effort into raising them into responsible and respectfull people. As for a good child...I think all children are good. Sometimes the things they learn arn't and it depends on the reaction they get as to weather or not the behaviour is repeated.
